Shortage Of House Surgeons
Sir,— We mustn’t have any more doctors, sir, OnZ S, Ut * an end t 0 all the fu s. Only the Austrians and the Swiss sir, Have any more docs than us. Though poor old grannie took a , cro l as t week-end, And no-one would answer your call, We cant do with any more medical men— That’s not the solution at all Poor grandpa’s been years on the waiting list. And he can’t get much rest at night, But we mustn’t have any more surgeons, sir— That simply would not be right. So physicians and surgeons anaesthetists, too, (Not to mention psychiatrists) Must continue to work their ridiculous hours— re incurable masochists. There s no answer to the house surgeons’ plea— The department has told us SO And above all else we must not increase Our wonderful ratio. Yours, etc., T PIA MATER. January 11, i 960.
