Dr. S. Mac Kay To Visit
Christchurch
Dr. Stuart Mac Kay, who was recently appointed assistant director of the Division of Clinical Services in the Department of Health, to act as a liaison officer between the department and private practitioners, will arrive in Christchurch soon on his first official visit. Areas which Dr. Mac Kay has visited so far include Dunedin, Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty. He is at present in Auckland, and will go to Hamilton and Northland before coming to Christchurch. After 31 years in private practice in Takapuna. Auckland, Dr. Mac Kay was appointed to the new post in June, 1959, to advise private practitioners about the latest drugs and discuss prescribing problems. There are more than 750 proprietary products in the drug tariff and 80 manufacturers selling them, and it is one of Dr- MacKay’s jobs to keep doctors informed on the relative merits and costs of the various preparations. He aims to see as many doctors as possible, particularly in the main centres, each year.
