(Rec. H P- m -l LONDON, January 9.
Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery will visit Communist China in May, he said today just after he had returned from a four-day visit to India. Lord Montgomery said: “I always think the West is making a great mistake in thinking that ♦he true Government of China is jn Formosa. It is not. They don’t count at ail. The true Government of China is in Peking—that which <( governs 600 million Chinese-” Lord Montgomery said that he had gone to see the Indian Prime Minister (Mr Nehru) because die had a great affection and admiration for him. He declined to say what he actually discussed with Mr Nehru, but said he had gone to talk about world problems. “The Western leaders have the summit meetings and they are rather inclined to look inwards at JLA.T.O. and not outwards at the world. They see all the trees in the N.A.T.O. area and don’t see the global wood,” he said.
