Priestley Had “Chip On Shoulder”
(N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) DARWIN, December 10. A member of the Northern Territory Legislative Council had hit back at the British author/ J. B. Priestley, for his criticism of Australians. i The member, Mr W. H. Pffitrick, who represents the Stv£rt electorate, said he “resented the imputation" of Mr Priestley w|hen he said on Tuesday that a Idt of Australians had “run like .rabbits” from the Australian/New Zealand Peace Congress. The congress was held! last month in Melbourne. Mr Petrick said: “It’s pity that a man who about people running like I rabbits makes a statement like that, then runs away himself.” Mr Petrick said he /travelled by plane from Alice Springs to Darwin with Mr Priestfey at the week-end. “He complained aU/the way,” he said. “I had no k/ea who he was. I noticed hlra only because he had a cjhip on his shoulder. “At Katherine (a/n intermediate stop) he complained to me that Australian pirlines were terrible—that •aU Hhey thought about was carrying freight and neglecting the cognfort and convenience of passengers. “I tried to be, friendly, but I could not get through to him.
