HARD COURTS AT PARK

Delegate Criticises Condition The hard courts at Wilding Park were in very poor condition, worse than those at most of the clubs in Christchurch, said Mr A. D. Atkinson (South Brighton) at the quarterly meeting of delegates to the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. “In their present rough state, we are just wasting paint by painting these courts,” said Mr Atkinson. “What is the policy of the Wilding Park committee in regard to the use and maintenance of these courts?” The policy of the Wilding Park committee was to top-dress the hard courts as finance and labour became available, said the chairman of the committee (Mr F. H. G. Johnstone). Mr Johnstone said the committee had considered, at the beginning of the season, top-dressing a block of four courts. This had been held over until the end of the season, as all the courts would be required for the start of the inter-club season.
