Marlborough On Top In First Day’s Play
(New, Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, December 4 , electrifying burst of bowling by G. Bartlett, the Marlborough pace bowler whose absence from the Central Districts’ Plunket Shield team is explained only by a suspected leg injury, put Marlborough well on top »«, the first day of the Newman Shield challenge match with Motueka at Blenheim today. In Motueka’s second Innings, Bartlett, who bowled at a pace which would have troubled batsmen of higher ability, took three for 11 off four overs, one of which was a maiden.
