£500 Mile For Class Three-Y ear-Olds
The Waipa Racing Club will hold a £5OO race next week Intended to give class three-year-olds a preparatory run for the Great Northern Derby. The race, the Waipa Turf Plate, is for winners only, with penalties for open class runners and a 31b allowance for hacks. Two virtually certain starters are Grasher and Lord Sasanof. These two are expected to contest the Derby. Grasher already is a certain starter, but Lord Sasanof s trainer. V. B. Johnson, will not decide on his programme until midweek.
Another likely starter in both races is Commodore Roberts.
