WOMEN’S DISCUS RECORD
Miss Thompson Betters Miss Sloper’s Figure (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, December 2. The Empire Games representative. Miss Jennifer Thompson (Waikato), last night won back the national record in the discus when she hurled it 166 ft lin, to better the present record, held by Miss V. Sloper (Canterbury), of 162 ft Bin. All three of Miss Thompson’s throws bettered the record. Her first two throws were 164 ft Bin and 162 ft 9in.
Miss Thompson was competing In the King Country zone athletic championships which were held at Otorohanga.
