CATCHMENT BOARD
City Election Results The official count of votes cast in the city at the local body elections on November 21 was completed yesterday with the announcement by the Returning Officer (Mr H. S. Feast) of the results of the election for the city seats on the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The result, unchanged from election night, elects four Citizens’ Association candidates and leaves the four Labour Party candidates in their earlier order. The final count resulted:— G. Jobberns .. 16,782 L. W. McCaskill .. 16.345 A. T. Bell .. 15,756 J. G. McClelland .. 14,726 (elected)
A. J. Smith .. 11,202 J. Shankland (snr.) .. 10,669 J. A. Gregor .. 10,159 E. C. Leach .. f 1,380 Informal .. 578
The only “new” member of the board is Professor L. W. McCaskill, but he has had previous experience as a board member.
