DEMONSTRATIONS IN JAPAN
Ban On Gatherings Near Diet Planned (N.Z. Press Assoeiation~-Copyright) TOKYO, November 30. The Japanese Government today announced that it had decided to draft a bill to make mass demonstrations illegal in the vicinity of the National Diet building. The Opposition Socialist Party, blamed for the demonstration in the Diet grounds last Friday, immediately replied that it opposed the bill. Police headquarters said that about 12,000 of the demonstrators broke into the grounds when a flanking force of students penetrated a police cordon to attack the main gate. The police said nearly 9000 police had been mobilised and 326 were injured, 12 seriously. The demonstrations, which are planned to continue during December, are against the payment of reparations to South Vietnam and the proposed revision and renewal of the Japan-United States security treaty.
