WORKSHOP FIRE
Walls, Ceiling Damaged Fire damaged the walls, ceiling and contents of a workshop at the rear of premises known as the Ham road service station, 364 Ham road. The fire broke out at 1.35 a.m. yesterday. The fire was believed to have started on a work bench. The call was attended by one unit from Sockburn. Mr A. C. Henry owns the property. When fire broke out in the lounge of a house at 16 Meadow stret, Papanui, damage was done to furniture, curtains, and a window frame. The house, which is owned by Mr A. Barton, was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Some smoke damage was done to the rest of the house. One unit from St. Albans attended.
A cigarette butt is believed to have caused a small fire which occurred on a wooden fire escape at the Manchester Hotel, Manchester street, about 10.43 a.m. yesterday. Three units from the Central Fire Station attended. There was no damage.
