TRADITIONAL NAMING CEREMONY FOR NEW TASMAN AIRLINER—A bottle of champagne being broken against the nose of the first of the new Jet-prop Electra airliners of Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., at a ceremony at Whenuapai airport, Auckland, on Tuesday. The aircraft was named Aotearoa by Mrs J. Mathison, wife of the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation. On the same day, the Aotearoa made Its first flight to Sydney in 3hr 55min against a strong headwind. The return flight to Auckland took 3hr 40min.
