NEV GOVERNOR GENERAL
Australians Will “Love Him” (NIZ. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE, December 1. The Australian Prime Minister (Mr Robert Menzies) said last night Australian were “going to love” their new Governor-Gen-eral (Lord Dunrossil). The appointment of Lord Dunrossil, the. former Speaker of the British House of Commons, Mr W. S. Morrison, provoked a storm of criticism from the Opposition Labour Parties in the United Kingdom and Australia. Mr Menzies, speaking at a centenary dinner of the Queensland Society of Saint Andrew of Scotland, said Lord Dunrossil was “a fine brave soldier in the first world war. “He descended from that level to become a lawyer,” said Mr Menzies. “He went into the House of Commons as Mr W. S. Morrison, occupied many posts, and became what many people have preferred to describe as the greatest Speaker of the House of Commons since the turn of the century.” The Prime Minister said one thing held against the new Gov-ernor-General was that “he has been a great friend of mine, and I of him.”
