Australian Ski Team’s Training

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, December 1. The five-man Australian ski squad for the winter Olympic Games in Squaw. Valley, California, will train in California, but will have to return to Australia to travel to the Games with the full team. The skiers will arrive back in Australia only three days before they have to leave again for the Games. They have to do this to enable the whole Australian winter Olympics team to get the benefit of the organisers* travel and accommodation scheme, under which £A2SO is paid for each competitor. It is considered essential for the skiers’ safety that they have six weeks’ practice in enflifomia before the Olympic events. The cost of training the skiers in California is estimated at £A4BOO.
