NEW HAND FOR CHILD
Anonymous Offer WASHINGTON. Dee. 1. An anonymous New Yorker has offered to pay the full cost of the Christmas present little Mike Plaugher wants most—a left hand. The parents of Mike, aged six, who was bom with only one hand, said today the offer was made through a New York city radio station. The station said the would-be benefactor had telephoned after bearing on a newscast that the hand would cost about 800 dollars. She asked only that she be given an exact price in advance. Mr Plaugher said he had had no opportunity yet to arrange for an estimate. Several days ago, Mike s brother, Don, aged five, stole a hand from a department store dummy while he and Mrs Plaugher were shopping. When his mother discovered he was biding the hand under his coat, he explained that he had taken it as a Christmas present for Mike. , . . Mike’s father, a radio and television mechanic, has six children. He says the *’7 he could hope to make MUtos Christmas wish come true would be through outside help.
