Care Of Children
Sir, —Apropos the news item that Mrs Walmer, president of the Christchurch Nursery Play Centres’ Association, had appealed to nursery play centres to provide toys for the Save the Children Fund Christmas tree, and the desire of Mrs Johnson, president of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association, to copy the idea, your readers may be interested to know that for the last three years the council of the Temuka Free Kindergarten Association, with the co-opera-tion of the kindergarten mothers, has sponsored a child through the Save the Children Fund. We are very happy to help in this way as a small token of thanks for the many blessings enjoyed by our children. The necessary finance is raised by a special voluntary effort, distinct from our kindergarten fund-raising activities. May I commend this sponsorship scheme" to other mother groups.—Yours, etc., ELLEN S. RICHARDS, President, Temuka Free Kindergarten Association. November 30, 1959.
