DEVELOPMENTS IN EDUCATION
Prediction By Mr Beeby (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. Education in the second half of the century would become politically one of the most significant things in the world, said Mr C. E. Beeby, the retiring Director of Education, at a farewell function held at the Auckland Teachers’ College tonight. The function was arranged by Auckland education interests, and 17 different organisations were represented. “Competition among the
highly-developed countries* educate the under-developed «« could be a tremendously i®p* ant development,” Mid ■ Beeby. A tribute to Mr Beeby’a was paid by the chairman Auckland Education Board * I. J. Day). He stressed th* J* that a common bond of “J ship had always existed Mr Beeby and the organisations in the Auclu* district. ' Mr Day presented Mr with a gold watch in appr*y% of his services and Mrs with a handbag.
