The New Brighton club is having its best season for some years. The green is in excellent condition and the general surroundings have been kept in great order by club members. The championships are well on the way with a near record number of entries. All matches will be finished before Christmas. • The ties committee of the St. Albans Club has set the members a very busy time for the next week or two. Entries for all club competitions have been well supported and players are busy making appointments for games in all sections. Dates for completion of rounds will be strictly adhered to and failure to fulfil engagements will mean forfeiture of games. • The Burwood club enjoyed further success on Saturday, gaining a six-pointer in the three fours competition, against Rangiora, and the two colts’ teams also winning. The club competitions are going well, although it is too early to say whether any upsets are likely. The green is playing well and the additional green, after further attention, will prove a real asset to the club. Two Burwood teams reached the final at the Beckenham lighted green last week, and Gil Roberts’s rink had a slight edge on Morrie Lamont’s team.

An all day tournament, held at the Canterbury club on Sunday, was won by H. Evans, of Fendalton, with J. Rennie, of Christchurch, runner-up. Canterbury did not hold many matches last week, but several are set down for this week. • Canterbury’s form in the three fours competition has been rather disappointing so far, although the club had some good wins against strong opposition last Saturday. The club executive is delighted that seniors are including young players in their teams in the club Competitions. Thid is certain to be of benefit to the club later.
