A-TEST BAN TREATY
Another Article Approved GENEVA, November 30. Britain, the United States and the Soviet Union agreed today that a nuclear test ban control organisation should begin to function immediately after the signing of a test ban treaty, American Associated Press reported. The three delegations at the nuclear test ban conference reached agreement on an important new part of the treaty, covering the functions of a preparatory commission for the proposed test ban control organisation. They agreed that the commission would first be formed by the three original nuclear Powers and that each would have a veto on all commission decisions.
The commission is to begin functioning immediately after signature of the treaty, without waiting for formal ratification by any State. The agreement was the first part of the draft treaty’s text to be approved since May 8.
