Crater Appears In Hebrides
(N.Z. Preu Association—CopvriaM) (Rec. 11 p.m.) LEWIS (Outer Hebrides), Dee. L A large crater has suddenly appeared in desolate moorland in the south-west area of Lewi* the most northerly island of th* Outer Hebrides. It is believed to have been caused by a meteorite. A gamekeeper described the scene today. He said:* “There was an *rei of between two and three acre* churned up and hollowed out, «* though by the impact of a very large body. The ground wal cracked in all direction!. Standing to leeward of the hole, I could get a smell as if there had been a fire.” Numerous meteorites were seen about the time that th* crater appeared.
