Mr J. K. Logan, of Masterton, has been appointed a Returned Services’ Association representative on the Rehabilitation Board. He replaces Mr H. B. Burdekin who died some months ago.—(P.A.)
Mr J. H. Macky, project engineer for the Ministry of Works at Mangakino, has been promoted to the position of inspecting engineer at the head office of the Ministry. He will take over from Mr E. C. Smart, who has become District Commissioner of Works Christchurch. Mr Macky is expected to take up his new duties early next year.
Mr A. J. Doig, director of the Beverly-Begg observatory, Dunedin, and Mr T. J. Richards, a student at Victoria University, have jointly been awarded the Murray Geddes memorial prize for good work in the field of astronomy. The prize, which is awarded annually, is to commemorate the work of Mr Murray Geddes, the first director of the Carter Observatory.—-(P.A.)
