Post-Graduate Nursing.—The Minister of Health (Mr Mason) in Wellington presented postgraduate diplomas to 64 nurses, of whom 11 were from the Colombo Plan countries of Burma, Thailand, Singapore, and India, who have completed their training in New Zealand. One graduand was from Japan. To date more than 1000 nurses have passed through the Nurses* PostGraduate School since its establishment.—(P.A.) Women Teachers* Officers.— Officers elected at the annual meeting of the North Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Woirien’s Teachers’ Association were:—President, Miss It. D. Hay; vice-presidents, Misses B. B. Evans and M. I. Dykes; secretary, Miss D. W. Hill; treasurer, Miss N. L. Paton; committee, Mesdames E. H. Hyslop, G. J. Vernon, R. C. Penny, and Misses I. J. McLaughlin, H. C. Wilson, I. E. Price, N. M. Armstrong, R. W. Norman, C. E. Nisbet, E. C. Harris and P. J. Fischer. British War Brides.—More than 50 couples attended the annual summer dance organised by the Christchurch British War Brides* Club and held in the Christchurch Football Club Rooms recently. Bryndwr C.W.l.—The nineteenth birthday of the Bryndwr Country Women’s Institute was celebrated in St. Thomas's hall recently. The birthday cake was cut by Mesdames M. Morton, R. S. Menzies and A. B. McDiarmid. Guests were entertained by the institute choir and drama circle. Mrs H. G. Holmes presided. Shirley Mothers’ League.—A Christmas tableau with carols brought the break-up party of the Shirley branch of the League of Mothers to a close. Before that members of the choir and drama groups entertained with humorous items and Mesdames A. Cossins and K. Forne sang duets. Mrs N. C. Clapp presided.
