Centennial Cup In February (from Out Own Reporter) BLENHEIM, Nov. 23. The Marlborough Trotting Club will offer £4lOO in stakes for its two-day centennial meeting to be held at the Waterlea racecourse, Blenheim, on February 6 and 8, 1960. In addition there will be a trophy for each race on the programme and for the leading trainer and driver at the meeting. Already 14 trophies valued at £375 have been given. The principal race on the first day will be the Marlborough Centennial Trotting Cup, which will carry a stake of £5OO, including a trophy valued at £lOO. It will be a two mile event, with a‘4min 45sec class limit. The main race on the second day will also be of two miles, with the same limit and there will be a 10 furtong race each day for horses in this class. Maiden and improving pacers and maiden trotters are well catered for on the programme. There will be two races each day for horses in these classes. A right of re-entry clause will apply to the two maiden pacers* races on the first day. The races on the first day of the meeting will be named after presidents of the club and on the second day after early districts of Marlborough.
