Mermaid Theatre Success
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, November 11 So great has been the succeM of the Mermaid Theatre on • blitzed site among the wharves of Puddle Dock, Blackfriars, that its founder, the actor Bernard Miles, is planning two more theatres on the same lines—one in London, perhaps the northern suburb of Golders Green, the other in Liverpool. The Mermaid cost £86.000. Mr Miles raised £60.000 and the bank gave him an overdraft for the rest. By Christmas the Mermaid will be cleared of debt and making £lOOO a week. “We have been hit by a tidal wave that has swept us off our feet,” said Mr Miles.
