LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
Scrutiny Of Rolls The scrutiny of the rolls used for the municipal elections began yesterday, and once it is completed the official count, of votes for the mayoralty and City Council will be begun. The Mayor-elect, Mr G. Manning, will take office on the Wednesday after the day Mr H. S. Feast, as returning officer, declares him elected. Councillors will come into office on the day after that on which they are declared elected. It has now been decided that the new council will meet on December 8 for the installation ceremony, and the Mayor is expected to announce the names of committee members, which will be fixed by the Citizens’ Association councillors beforehand. So that some decisions can be made before the holiday break, the council will hold its first meeting on December 21.
