Margin Of One A one-vote margin between the last of the successful candidates and the first of the unsuccessful candidates was maintained through to the final figures in the election for three members to represent the Dannevirke Borough on the Dannevirke Electric Power Board. Mr W. Leatherhead was third after counting on Saturday night, and Mr J. A. Stone was fourth. The final figures for the two candidates, after all votes had been counted and recounted, were: Leatherhead 922, Stone 921. (P.A.) High wind and rain in some places made flying conditions poor over the southern half of the North Island and the north of the South Island.—(P.A.) £280,000 Building The planned seven-storey office building of the National Insurance Company, Ltd., opposite the Chief Post Office, in Princes street, Dunedin, is to be built by the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd. The cost of the building is believed to be about £280,000. It is expected to be ready for occupation in about 22 months. The site is part of that formerly owned by Brown, Ewing and Company, Ltd. It was purchased late last year for £50,000. Big Loans Consent to the raising of loans amounting to £1,906,400 by 21 local bodies has been given by the Local Authorities Loans Board. The loans listed in the latest issue of the Gazette include an Auckland Harbour Board loan of £750,000, a Lyttelton Harbour Board port development loan of £500.000, and an Otago Harbour Board port development loan of £150,000. Mobile X-ray Unit The Health Department’s mobile X-ray unit handled 106 persons in the St Albans area yesterday. Today the unit will be on the corner of Wairakei road and Normans road, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the comer of Blighs road and Tillman street from 1.45 p.m. to 3 p.m., and on the comer of Papanui road and Blighs road, 3.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
