Stewardship Dinner. The South Brighton Methodist Church’s stewardship dinner was attended by some 200 persons at the Pier tearooms, New Brighton, on Tuesday evening. Speeches on the church’s history, its needs, and its challenge were given. Among the guests were the connexional secretary of the Methodist Church in New Zealand (the Rev. H. L. Fiebig) and his wife and the superintendent of the Christchurch East circuit (the Rev. V; R. Jamieson) and Mrs Jamieson. Gordon Hall Auxiliary.—To mark the end of the year's activities, members of the Boys’ Gordon Hall Auxiliary recently held a social function in the concert hall of the Y.M.C.A. Mothers of the boys attending Y.M.C.A. classes in the city and Mairehau, members of the senior women’s auxiliary, and the mother’s group from the Y.W.C.A. were specially-invited guest?. A party from the William Morris group entertained. St. Martins-Opawa Garden Club.—The annual bring and buy garden party of the St MartinsOpawa Garden Club was held at the home of Mrs Ewart Smith. Stalls with plants, home produce and handwork were set outside. Proceeds of the sale will go to the Canterbury Horticultural Society’s building fund. Divine Healing Fellowship.— The Rev. J. F. Ellis presided at the annual meeting of the Divine Healing Fellowship, Diocese of Christchurch, when the following officers were elected: —Chairman, the Rev. J. F. Ellis; vice-chair- , man, the Rev. T. C. Johnston; chaplain, the Rev. P. N. Wright; secretary, Miss M. E. Schwebe; treasurer, Mr C. H. Labatt; committee, the Ven. Archdeacon E. A. Gowing, Deaconess Heni Park, Sister Leona, Mesdames E. Cameron, A. Gough, H. R. Johnson, L. Long and Miss N. Opie. Villa Maria Reunion.— Mrs M. ! T. Bunting, presdient of the Villa Maria Old Girls’ Association, welcomed 65 members to the annual reunion held at the college recently. A coloured film of this year’s debutante ball was shown.
Monsignor T. Hanrahan, welcomed members on behalf of the Reverend Mother and sisters of Villa Maria and expressed his pleasure at seeing so many of the younger members present, “It is they who hold the future of the association in their .hands,” he said. After afternoon tea, members attended Benediction in the college chapel.
