Unite Sold To Sydney
The 1956 Auckland Cup winner. Unite, has been sold by his Prebbleton breeder and trainer, V. Leeming, to the Sydney trainer, W. Picken. An eight-year-old gelding by U. Scott from Princess Medoro, Unite is closely related to Caduceus, Highland Fling, Highland Kilt, and other fine winners. Unite has been lightly raced in recent years, because of soreness. This cleared up well in the spring, but he failed to reproduce the dash he had shown in his earlier racing. Unite is a good type of pacer, which should not be hard to place to advantage in Australia. Unite was a big winner for Leeming. He gained 10 wins and six placings and earned £9935 in stakes. He was booked to sail for Sydney yesterday.
