FIRE STARTED BY THIEVES

£5OOO Damage To Factory (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. Searching for money and valuables with flaming paper torches thieves set fire to a factory at Morningside, Auckland, and scattered charred paper about another in early morning burglaries today. The intruders caused £5OOO worth of damage in the Napier Concrete Company’s offices and machinery shops in a fire which the police think was accidental, but the company believes was deliberate. Files were taken from shelves and placed in the middle of the floor.

From the other premises entered, P. Rickman and Sons, Ltd., wood moulders, thieves took a 30s adjustable spanner from the thousands of pounds worth of precision tools there. In the concrete company’s works office drawers were found with charred paper in them.
