Scottish Command In Further Grand Trial

Scottish Command gave an outstanding exhibition of pacing in a solo run over two miles at Addington yesterday morning. Jonboy Star and Sally Boy recorded sound trials for the New Zealand Derby Stakes and Queenson and Bonny Starlet worked pleasingly. The trials were held in perfect weather, with trainers having the use of the main track next to the rails.

Scottish Command was never at top in his run over two miles in 4min 22sec. He was allowed to stretch out a little in the straight, taking Imin 3 2-ssec for his last four furlongs, and 30 3-ssec for his last quarter. Scottish Command is in great heart for his engagement in the Allan Matson Handicap.

Jonboy Star was pacing well alongside Au Fait, with Fourth Edition right up at the end of one mile and a half in 3min 19 4-ssec, the last half-mile in Imin 5 2-ssec, and the final quarter in 31 4-ssec. Jonboy Star has trained on well lately for R. Young and he will be a fit horse for the Derby. Fourth Edition will have bright prospects in the Express Handicap.

Sally Boy had something in reserve at the finish of his mile and a half in company with Kanor in 3min 24 3-ssec, |he last halfmile in 60 3-ssec. and the final quarter in 29 2-ssec. Sally Boy's injuries have responded well to treatment and he will take his place in the Derby field. He will be among the favourites for the race.

Safety Catch and Heather Walla finished together at the end of one mile and a half in 3min 23 4-ssec. the last half-mile in Imin 4sec. and the final quarter in 31 sec Both horses are in good order

Queenson’s Trial Queenson was finishing on boldly two lengths behind Light Mood and Vanity Scott at the end of two miles in 4min 32 l-ssec, the last half-mile in Imin 3 l-ssec, the final quarter in 31sec. Queenson will have bright prospects in the November Handicap tomorrow. Gold Pride and Ebony Scott took 3min 19sec for their mile and a half. They went fastest early, taking 2min 11 3-ssec for their first mile. They took 33 1-5 sec for their final quarter. Nairobi had Gay Baron doing his best at the end of two miles in 4min 35sec, the last half-mile in Imin 3 3-ssec. Nairobi has more ability than most in Jier class, but she seems unable to hold her position early. The experience she has had at Addington should improve her.

Bon Deed was too good for one of his stablemates and the trotter. Guiliano, which broke at the furlong. in a run over one mile and a half in 3min 25 l-ssec. the last half-mile ’in Imin 4 l-ssec, and the final quarter in 30sec. Omega gave Crisette and another member of A. J. Bourne's team a start from the mile and a half and finished on terms with them after recording 3min 21sec, the last half-mile in Imin 4 3-5 sec, and the final quarter in 31 2-ssec. Omega is working well and may not be long showing worthwhile form.

Worked Easily Disraeli worked easily freelegged over one mile and a half in 3min 26 2-ssec at an even pace. He looks ready to race well in the Hayward Handicap.

Bonny Starlet was doing better than Next Time at the end of two miles in 4min 37 2-ssec, the last half-mile in Imin 3 4-ssec. Bonny Starlet will be the hardest for Damian to beat in the Le Lievre Handicap. She has trained on well since her win last Friday. Mythical Lass worked on her

own over one mile and a half in 3min 27 3-ssec, the last half-mile taking Imin 5 3-ssec, and the final quarter in 32 4-ssec. Rodger trotted one mile and a half in 3min 22sec, his last halfmile in Imin ♦ 4-ssec, and the final quarter in 32sec.
