Cricket AUSTRALIA WINS TEST

Eight-Wicket Victory (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) DACCA, November 18. Australia won 'the first test against Pakistan at Dacca today by eight wickets, when N. O’Neill hit Fazal Mahmood for three runs on the on side. Australia resumed batting today, needing 46 runs to win, and i w ith nine wickets in hand. Harvey (29) and C. C. McDonald (28) were the not out batsmen overnight Fazal’s first over was a maiden I to McDonald. Harvey tried to j sweep the first ball from Shujaud i Din, but missed. He turned the l next for a single, which brought him to face Fazal. Harvey was trying to force [ Fazal away, but the bowling was i very accurate. Then for the second time in the match, Harvey was bowled by Fazal. Harvey appeared to play too late at a ball which came through faster and Fazal leapt in the air as the ball knocked the back leg stump. O’Neill, who joined McDonald, had some anxious moments against Fazal, but he on-drove him for three. He scored another three off Shujaud with a straight drive which he hit powerfully. McDonald, who had been pushing Fazal away to the off, was lucky to steer the ball headhigh through the three slip fieldsmen for a single. Fazal, who earlier had been the hero of the Dacca crowd, was now being jeered whenever he took the ball for another over. But he was still the only man who looked like taking wickets. Nasimul Ghani relieved Shujaud Din after he bowled five overs. Nasimul took O’NeiH’s wicket in the first innings in only three balls, but O’Neill was showing more concentration today.
