CHRYSANTHEMUMS
For future use new sorts of chrysanthemums should be planted. Although the large show types of chrysanthemums are still popular' with those who specialise ip these classic beauties, for all-round garden excellence the smaller-flowered singles, pompons and anemonecentres types will give plenty of flowers for cutting with just ordinary cultivation. The raising of new types and
varieties has largely been the work of Australian horticulturists for almost a century, and chiefly in the hands of one family—the Pocketts. To this family we are indebted for the .introduction of William Turner, Louisa Pockett, Edith Cavell and most of our other best show varieties and also for the widening of range in colour and quality for the present show chrysanthemum.
