Presbyterians’ Course (New Zeaiana Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Nov. 12. A decision to establish a Presbyterian Church lay training course, made by the General Assembly on Wednesday, was revoked last night and' a contrary motion from the Rev. D. W. Stajkey (Wellington) was carPeople drawn to the course would be those already catered for by the Church’s youth leadership courses and it would not “get at” the man in the street, he said. The course envisaged would frighten off the type of men to whom the Church needed to pass on the message of God in their particular spheres. He described the Scheme as “not realistic.” The scheme, as approved last night, provided for men and women willing to do trained Church work without taking, the full courses for the ministry or a deacorfess order to receive a basic course of preparation in such subjects as Bible knowledge, Christian doctrine, and Church history, as well as practical and educational subjects.
