Golf THREE LEADERS AT SYDNEY
£3OOO Professional Tournament (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, November 12. The English golfer, B. Hunt, after a tiring 36-hour plane journey,' rushed to the Kensington golf course on his arrival here today, and had a first-round 70 to be an equal leader in the £A3OOO, 54-hole Ampol golf tournament. With him on 70 are the Australian D. G. Nagle, and the Argentinian L. Ruiz. The New Zealanders J. Kelly and F. Buckler found the going tough. Kelly returning an 80, and Buckler an 82. The tournament is a prelude to the' Canada Cup, to be played in Melbourne next week, and all the stars, with the exception of the Americans Sneed and Middlecoff, are competing. On 71 are the Welshman D. Thomas, the Spaniard A. Miguel, and the Sydney professionals J. McInnes and C. Johnston. Following on 72 are P. Allis (England), A. Angelina (Italy), F. van Donck (Belgium), S. Leonard and A. Balding (Canada). On 73 are G. Player (South Africa), P. Thomson (Australia), D. Swaelen (Belgium), Mohammed Said Moussa (Egypt), and U. Grappasonni (Italy). CHRISTCHURCH LADIES’ CLUB. —Bogey match—Silver division: Miss E. M. B. Nutt (8), I down; Miss W. Morgan (5), 2 down; Mrs J. H. Ensor (9). 2 down; Miss D. Irvine (12), 2 down; Mrs M. L. Page (14), 2 down. Bronze division: Mrs A. W. Leithead (18), 2 down; Mrs H. V. Rossi (19), 3 down; Mrs E. Corcoran (20), 3 down. Mrs N. H. Rickman’s trophy was won by Miss Nutt.
