WARRANT ISSUED

Disappearance Of Woman (NJI. Press Association—CopyriffM) PAARL (Cape Province), November 12. A warrant has been Issued for the arrest of Mrs Elisabeth Mafekeng, the African trade union leader who disappeared after being banished from her home in Paarl, it was officially reported last night. Mrs Mafekeng, the 42-year-old mother of 11 children, was reported to have fled to Basutoland, where she is believed to be staying with friends. All was reported quiet in the riot area last night and the large force of police patrolling the area had been withdrawn. A number of persons arersted in the riots—which came after the news of Mrs Mafekengs banishment—are expected to appear in Court today. A total of 51 arrests were made during the riots, in which one man was killed and at least 11 injured. Mrs Mafekeng had been ordered to move to Vryburg, 700 miles from Paarl, because it would be "injurious for the peace, order and administration of Africans” if she remained. In Maserua, where she was reported to have crossed the border in a car on Tuesday, officials said they did not know if she was in the Protectorate. In Pretoria, neither the South African Police nor the British High Commissioner’s Office would confirm or deny the report that Mrs Mafekeng was in Basutoland.
