Mr K. G. Begg, chairman of directors of the Imperial Industries of Australia and New Zealand, Ltd., Melbourne, who arrived in Christchurch yesterday, will visit the company’s offices and installations in New Zealand and have discussions with the management of I.CX (N.Z.) Ltd., before returning to Australia on November 23. Messrs M. A Henshall, N. J. Owens, and R. White, of Christchurch. have been granted the status of associate public accountant by the New Zealand Society of Accountants. The Rev. Walter W. Jacobson, formerly vicar of Hororata, and one-time curate in the parish of Papanui, was inducted recently as vicar of St. John's, Shiphay, Torquay, Devon. Mr Jacobson, before ordination in Christchurch, was on the reporting staff of “The Press.” His induction at Torquay was conducted by the Bishop of Plymouth. For the last 18 months Mr Jacobson has been rector of the parish of Poughill with Stockleigh English, in Devonshire. Professor Raymond Firth, professor of anthropology at' the University of London who was born in Auckland ana graduated from the University of Auckland, will deliver the Huxley Memorial Lecture to the Royal Anthropological Institute in London on November 27. The Huxley Memorial Medal is the highest honour which the institute, can bestow. Professor Firth is the author of a number of books on the primitive Maori and on other Pacific races and economies. The title of his lecture will be “Problem and Assumption in an Anthropological Study of Religion.'’ Mr G. E. L. Aiderton has been appointed honorary ConsulGeneral for the Republic of Indonesia in New Zealand.—(P.A.) Mr H. G. Calvert has been appointed a member x>f the Medical Advertisements Board.—(P.A.) Mr K. B. Longmore, assistant to the general manager of the Tourist and Publicity Department, will leave Auckland by air today for Manila.
