MANUFACTURE OF FIBREGLASS
£500,000 Factory In

AUCKLAND, October 8.
A £500,000 factory which will produce about 1000 tons of fibreglass a year is to be established at Penrose road. Mount Wellington. within a few months.
A new company. New Zealand Fibreglass. Ltd., has been registered to handle local sales and run the factory, which is financed by Australian Fibreglass Pty., Ltd. Production should begin next June. The new industry—the first of its kind in New Zealand—is expected to save up to £400,000 annually in overseas exchange. It will produce insulation and appliances.
Plant and equipment worth £175,000 will be imported from the United States. Australian Fibreglass Pty., Ltd., is a jointly owned subsidiary of Australian Consolidated Industries, Ltd., of Melbourne, and the OwensCorning Fibreglass Corporation, of the United States.
The factory, with a capacity of three tons a day. will be in use 24 hours a day and will provide work for 100 persons.
