Obituary DR. G. C. BILLING

Dr. G. C. Billing, professor of economics at the University of Otago since 1947. died suddenly in Dunedin yesterday at the age of 61. Born in South Australia. Dr Billing graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1922. In 1930 he was appointed lecturer in economics at the University of Otago.
The grant of a Rockefeller scholarship in 1932 enabled Dr. Billing to return to London, and in 1934 he was awarded his Ph.D. degree. Dr. Billing is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
MR S. BECKINGSALE
Mr Stanley Beckingsale. who died in Wellington at the age ot 60 recently, was born and educated in Christchurch but livea most of his life in Wellington. Mr Beckingsale was appointed Government Actuary in 1937. He had been acting-actuary for some years. He retired from the post in July of this year and was appointed a director of the Dominion Life Assurance Office of New Zealand, Ltd. Mr Beckingsale was a membei of the board of governors of Queen Margaret College, Wellington.
He is survived by his wife ana daughter.
