ONE KILLED, FOUR HURT
Cars In Collision On Highway (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 4. A man was killed and four other persons were injured when two cars collided on Saturday evening on the Whangarei-Kaikohe highway, about one mile north of Maungatapere. The man killed was Robert Stewart Clyde, aged 37, married, with five children, Ministry of Works employee, of Paranui Valley road, Whangarei. Mr Clyde died in Whangarei Hospital this morning. He was a passenger in a car driven by Neil Gamble, of Whangarei, who received minor injuries. Three persons in the other car received injuries. They are William Henry Franklin, of Whangarei, his wife, Mrs Anita Mary Franklin, and their flve-year-old son, Paul. The child was admitted to Whangarei Hospital with concussion. Mr and Mrs Franklin were able to go home after being treated.
