GREEN FEED MAIZE Is an excellent supplementary fodder either for feeding in situ or to cut and cart out to cattle during the dry summer months of January and February. Milk production is well maintained on the green, leafy stalks, and crops not required for summer feeding can be used for silage. Maize should be sown after all risk of frost damage has passed. From November to early December is recommended as a suitable sowing time. The crop is best suited to a deep sandy loam containing ample organic matter. Early deep ploughing with a winter fallow is necessary for producing maximum yields. Crops should be drilled in 7in rows or broadcast and disced in at a sow'ng rate of Ito 2 bushels per acre.
