DELLOCH IN FAVOUR
Mitchelson Cup At Ellerslie “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. October 2. A continuance of the wet spell and likelihood of very soft ground has brought Delloch, a mudlark, strongly into favour for the Mitchelson Cup at Ellerslie tomorrow. If the showery weather persists her stocks for the big mile and a half race will improve. The double will be on the Mitchelson Cup and the Flying Handicap. Other important races will be the Great Northern Guineas, for three-year-olds. and the Welcome Stakes, for two-year-olds. It Is widely expected that the winners will be Wakatere (Guineas) and Prince Ali. If all the candidates go to the post Wakatere will be opposed by eight colts and two fillies and more than likely there will be about a dozen opponents for Prince Ali. Next to Wakatere the best might be Goldmyth, Karina and Lord Sasanof, and the hardest that Prince Ali will have to contend with mfght be Miriam and Terrorist. According to his trainer, J. Williamson, Grasher is an unlikely starter in the Hobson Handicap. It is expected that only one of the bracket, Commodore Roberts and Teddy, will run and if the going is very wet Commodore Roberts will probably be scratched.
