The mysterious death of another Englishwoman shook Bermuda today when the body of a middle-aged real estate operator was found in an alleyway near Hamilton’s main shopping street. The woman, Mrs Emma Bland, had a bullet wound and had fallen from the open fifth floor window of her office. ’ - This is the fourth sudden death of a woman in Bermuda in the last six months. The three women who met their deaths earlier were all suspected murder victims. Yesterday the body of Miss Dorothy Rawlinson, formerly of London, was found in the sea. Miss Rawlinson, who had been in Bermuda for about four months, is believed by police to have been murdered and her body taken out to sea and dropped overboard. Her body was recovered by a local fisherman after bloodstained clothing had been found on a pink coral beach. Sharks The body had been badly mutilated by sharks. Pathologists are still trying to establish the cause of death. In May, two Scotland Yard detectives flew to Hamilton to investigate the strangling of Mrs Gertrude Robin, aged 72. and Mrs Dorothy Pearce, aged 59. both of whom had been criminally assaulted. The island's tiny police force is reported to be considering calling in Scotland Yaid again to investigate Miss Rawlinson’s death. The murder of Miss Rawlinson has brought new fear to the women of the island. No special police precautions have been taken, but the people of Warwick Parish are taking their own. Women no longer go about alone at night. They walk in groups or with male escorts. This is likely to continue until the killer or killers are caught.
