WEEK-END WALK FOR SCOUTS

Party Leaves City Fur Timaru Seven Timaru rover scouts left Christchurch last night to hike to Timaru and do their share towards the Timaru Centennial Celebrations. The scouts, from the Northdown Rover Crew, were bidden farewell from the City Council Chambers by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manning) and the Canterbury Provincial Commissioner (Sir Joseph Ward). Another who wished them well was Mr W. Salmon, the scoutmaster who led a group from the Northdown Scouts from Timaru to Christchurch in 1922.

The leader of the party, W. Dowling, is carrying a message of goodwill from Mr Manning to the Mayor of Timaru (Mr R. E. White).

The group walked out through the city and were entertained to supper at Deans Bush by the Deans Rover Crew. They started on the journey proper at 11 p.m. and expected to reach the Selwyn river about 6 a.m. today.

They will stay at Selwyn for several hours and this will be the only major stop during the day. The group will stay at Ashburton tonight and plans on reaching Timaru some time on Monday.

Twyneham) was granted a decree nisi is the Supreme Court yesterday against Nellie Margaret Hern (Mr E. B. E. Taylor). Margaret Joyce Hullah (Mr H. S. Thomas) was granted a decree nisi against Stanley Frank Hullah on the ground of adultery.
