RELIEF WANTED BY ORCHARDISTS
Effects Of Urban Spreading More relief for orchardists under the Urban Farm Land Rating Act was recommended in a remit from Canterbury fruitgrowers, at yesterday's annual Canterbury provincial conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation. The recommendation was carried and will be discussed at the federation’s annual conference at Blenheim in October. Mr B. T. Turner, a Canterbury delegate, said that spreading urban areas were including many orchard holdings in heavy rating areas. He knew of one holding where yearly rates amounted to £B5 10s Id. This increased the average production cost by Is 9d a case.
