PARLIAMENT’S DIARY
Practically the whole of yesterday's Parliamentary sitting was devoted to committee discussion of the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill, which was concluded at 10.5 p.m. During formal business, five questions were asked Ministers, and a Petitions Committee made a report. Two measures were introduced and read a first time. They were the Apple and Pear Marketing Amendment Bill, and the National Provident Fund Amendment Bill. The House completed the committee stages of the Property Law Amendment Bill, and partially completed discussion on the British Nationality and New Zealand Citizenship Amendment Bill. Just before the adjournment, a bill to amend the Customs Act was introduced. The Minister of Customs (Mr Boord) explained that t was a bill of three clauses designed to facilitate the collection of duty on articles other than cargo entering the country in ships or aircraft. The House adjourned at 1.35 p.m. until 9.30 a.m today.
