Primary Production

Sir, Mr H. C. Urlwin was reported in the press as stating that his firm opinion was that in Russia farm machinery was far ahead of New Zealand. May I remind Mr Urlwin that it takes 52,000,000 agricultural workers in Russia to produce food for approximately 200,000,000 people Being interested in land and having travelled through many different countries I believe that both the machinery and the standards of farming in New Zealand compare favourably with that of other countries. Incidentally, 6.000.000 people engaged in primary production in the United States produce sufficient food for an approximate population of 180,000,000 people.—Yours, etc..

L. B. MILLER. September 23, 1959.
