Training will be given in the design of engineering structures, highways and general engineering and survey draughting. A sound mathematical knowledge 1* desirable. Cadets will have every opportunity to make a career for themselves in the following:— (a) Survey Draughting: Involving the drawing of plans and maps, survey calculations, preparing map* from aerial photograph*, and the application of surveys to the land laws of New Zealand. (b) Cartography: The cadet* will be trained In the preparation. drawing and publication, of topographical and aeronautical maps and charts, as well a* general maps of New Zealand and the Pacific. (c) Photogrammetry. Trailing will be given in the preparation of maps from Aerial Surveys. This involves the use of precision optical instrument* to obtain map data from aerial photographs, and th* production of special topographical maps for engineering project*. Also base maps for cartographic work. From time to time draughting cadets may apply for survey cadetships as vacancies occur. N.Z. ELECTRICITY DEPT. This Department will train cadets in all aspects of draughting connected with th* generating and transmission of electric power.
