INCREASED CHEESE PRODUCTION

Effect Of Higher Differential (Nlev; Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 18. New Zealand cheese production this dairying season will increase by 11,000 to 12,000 tons as a result of the increase to 6d in the cheese price differential, according to Mr M. H. Wallace, assistant director of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture. Mr Wallace told the annual conference of the Auckland branch of the Dairy Factory Managers’ Association today that since the increase in the differential 16 dairy factories in 11 companies had applied for licences to manufacture cheese. These factories had all swung over to casein manufacture from cheese 12 months ago, said Mr Wallace. The swing back to cheese now would mean that output this season would be about the same as it was in the 1956-57 season. Mr Wallace said that the increase in cheese making would mean a decrease of 5000 to 6000 tons in casein manufacture. . V L.N.C. Industrie*.—Consolidated net profit of L.N.C.
