DEPRECIATION ON PLANT
Mr Holloway Hopes For Increased Rates (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept 18. The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Holloway) said in the House of Representatives today that he hoped for an increase in the rates of depreciation on productive machinery, particularly where there was a need for fairly rapid replacement Mr Holloway said he agreed with Opposition members that there was a lack of capital for industrial development “But it is a problem that has been with us for many years,” he said. Earlier Mr T. P. Shand i (Opposition, Marlborough) said * there was a “grossly insufficient” sum available for industrial development Mr Shand accused the Government of “whittling away” industry’s capacity to save.
