Baby Will Break Tradition
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) TOKYO, September 15. The Japanese Imperial Household Board today announced Crown Princess Michiko was expecting a baby early next March. A spokesman for the board said Princess Michiko would herself feed her baby, thus breaking Imperial tradition. Until now, babies born in the Imperial Family had been placed under the care of nurses. The spokesman said Princess Michiko would give birth to her baby at the hospital inside the Imperial Palace ground. Princess Michiko was the first commoner to marry into the Japanese Imperial Family, when she married Crown Prince Akihito on April 10.
